St. John the Divine Church suffered no damage from Hurricane Ike and our Church parishoners appear to all be safe and their homes are fine. However, our friends on the Gulf Coast of Texas, including Beaumont, have not faired so well.
Thousands along the Gulf Coast have lost their homes or their entire neighborhoods. Thousands have watched their homes damaged or filled with flood waters. Please keep the victims of Hurricane Ike (and Hurricane Gustav) in your prayers. Offer your services, volunteer to help, or simply donate to the Red Cross or to the IOCC U.S. Emergency Response Fund.

Dear Father,
Praise God you are well! I am here with IOCC in Houston to do two weeks of relief work as necessary. I hope to talk to you soon, but as your blog says, you have been spared the worst.
We surveyed the churches in Galveston yesterday with Fr. Serge of the Serbian Church and it was messy. His church sustained some floor damage due to water but we moved to get the carpets out and dry. His parish hall, however was flooded to about two feet and is mostly lost. Assumption GOC was inundated to about five feet deep and is in need of a complete gutting. We saved what could be saved. they are on the ball and will have folks there to preserve the structure soon, God willing.
My contact number is 907-360-4603.
Greetings to you from our parish, Fr. Marc Dunaway and the folks in Eagle River Alaska!
God keep you well,
Dn. Dan
I will pass your kind words on to Father Michael. I am Rebecca Blakeley, the maintainer of this blog for our Church website. Good luck and God Bless you for all your hard work with IOCC.
