St. John the Divine Church suffered no damage from Hurricane Ike and our Church parishoners appear to all be safe and their homes are fine. However, our friends on the Gulf Coast of Texas, including Beaumont, have not faired so well.
Thousands along the Gulf Coast have lost their homes or their entire neighborhoods. Thousands have watched their homes damaged or filled with flood waters. Please keep the victims of Hurricane Ike (and Hurricane Gustav) in your prayers. Offer your services, volunteer to help, or simply donate to the Red Cross or to the IOCC U.S. Emergency Response Fund.

Lake Charles, LA was subjected to Hurricane Gustav. We do not yet know what kind of damage our church sustained as many of us are still out of state due to mandatory evacuations. Southeastern Louisiana sustained more damage from Gustav, thus recovery efforts will be more extensive. To learn how you can help in the aftermath of a hurricane and aid in recovery, visit the website of the American Red Cross or International Orthodox Christian Charities. Let us pray for our brothers and sisters who are suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav, and please do your part to help in the recovery process in any way that you can.
Update: No damage at our Church! Thanks be to God. Our Church family are all safe after Hurricane Gustav.

At long last, the complete Orthodox Study Bible has been published!
“The Orthodox Study Bible is the fruit of over twenty years of labor by many of the best Orthodox Christian theologians of our time. This long-awaited single volume brings together an original translation of the Old Testament from the Septuagint with the classic Orthodox Study Bible: New Testament and Psalms. Here, by the grace of God, you will find the living water of His Word with comprehensive study guides and teachings that bring to our modern world the mind of the ancient Christian Church.”
